BVI.EU lays the first stone of the CIT-YS Green Business Park in Belgrade

Jun 6, 2025

An exemplary project of urban reconversion and regional economic revitalisation

Belgrade (Namur), 6 June 2025 — This Friday, BVI.EU officially launched construction work on the CIT-YS Green Business Park in Belgrade during a first stone ceremony attended by Charlotte Bazelaire, Mayor of Namur, Renaud Degueldre, CEO of BEP, and Geoffroy Dumonceau, Business Unit Director – Life Sciences at BVI.EU. This ambitious 25,000 m² project, developed on a rehabilitated former military site, symbolises the intelligent redevelopment of land and the boost it brings to the regional economy.

A strategic site at the heart of a dynamic ecosystem

Ideally located just 10 minutes from Namur city centre and its railway station, close to the E411 and E42 motorways, and adjacent to the new training centre uniting Le Forem and IFAPME, the SME park is part of a particularly favourable environment that fosters collaboration and synergy between businesses and vocational training – a first in Wallonia!

20% of the units in the first phase have already been reserved, demonstrating the strong interest generated by the project. Companies have the option to buy or rent SME units from 70 m², or to choose custom-built buildings up to 4,000 m², which can be configured as workshops, offices, production areas, warehouses, showrooms or laboratories.

A project founded on sustainability and circularity

Developed in partnership with the Economic Bureau of the Province of Namur (BEP), CIT-YS is based on a circular approach: full site remediation, reuse of materials from demolition, high-performance energy technologies, and preservation of the site’s exceptional natural environment. Each unit is designed to meet the highest standards in terms of energy efficiency, water management and soft mobility.

“This first stone symbolises our ambition: to make CIT-YS an economic hub resolutely oriented towards the future, rooted in the region, and designed to meet the concrete expectations of companies in terms of flexibility, accessibility and sustainability.”

Geoffroy Dumonceau

Business Unit Director – Life Sciences at BVI.EU

“Through CIT-YS, we are breathing new life into a strategic site while creating a human-scale entrepreneurial ecosystem. By multiplying such initiatives, we are contributing in concrete terms to Wallonia’s economic vitality.”

Michel Meers

Founder of BVI.EU

Strong mobilisation around the project

The event brought together numerous regional stakeholders in a friendly atmosphere conducive to discussion and networking. After the official speeches, guests shared lunch on site.

Charlotte Bazelaire, Mayor of Namur:

“The CIT-YS Green Business Park fully embodies our ambition to transform a brownfield site into an economic driver. This major project reflects our desire to build a city resolutely focused on innovation, employment and sustainable, practical and meaningful development – both for Namur and the wider region.”

Renaud Degueldre, CEO of BEP:

“This partnership with BVI.EU demonstrates that the reconversion of former military sites can lead to structuring projects that foster innovation and growth. With CIT-YS, we are investing in a sustainable future for the benefit of businesses, citizens and the territory.”
