The construction of the Dansaert Park retail and business complex is well on track. Since August, 75 workers have been busy on the new business site along Robert Dansaertlaan in Groot-Bijgaarden. The project has cost around 16 million euros and will create 125 new jobs.
The retail park comprises 8,500 m² of shopping space and a car park with 225 spaces. “The structure of the retail park has since been erected”, said Michel Meers from BVI.BE, the developer of the SME zone. “The first layer of the asphalt was laid on the car park.” Businesses such as McDonald’s, Hunkemöller, Zeb, Torfs, JBC, E5-Mode, Bio Planet, Pizza Hut and Jims Fitness began their installation work in February. “We expect the official opening of the retail park to be on 3 April”, said Jan Du Bois from Mitiska, the retail park developer. “Only the winter months can throw a spanner in the works.” The SME park will enter operation in May. “The foundations have been cast and a start has been made on assembling the building structure”, said Michel Meers. “Of the 26 retail spaces, 19 have been sold already.”
